Learn the history of the Hale Wilkinson Carter Home and historic courthouse, hear from a coal miner from George L. Carter’s mine in Coalwood, WV and how he made a living, talk to an Appalachian coalfield wife, see quilt, crochet, and blacksmith demonstrations, arts & crafts from Appalachia, participate in the cakewalk, and shop with vendors. Jim Bordwine, “The Salt Maker” from History Channel’s show “Mountain Men” will be there telling Appalachian stories that both fascinate and educate. Bring the family! Admission is free.
